I have been in public safety more than half of my life. At the age of nineteen, I became a firefighter with Las Vegas Fire & Rescue. Over the years, I have had the honor and privilege to serve my community as a first responder with a skill set that included: paramedicine, fire apparatus driver/operator, technical rescue technician (high-angle rope rescue, vehicle extrication, confined space, structural collapse, swift water rescue, and firefighter rescue). In 2013, I became a Registered Nurse with the State of Nevada and promoted to the Emergency Medical Services Quality Improvement Coordinator. In 2015, I founded Southern Nevada CHIPs (Community Health Improvement Program), a non-profit that provides health and social service navigation and advocacy services to Southern Nevada’s most vulnerable community members through collaborations with first responders, universities, and other public service partners. In 2017, I promoted to my current role of Assistant Fire Chief. My current divisions include Training, Fire Communications (fire/medical dispatch), Special Operations, and the Nurse Triage Line. In August 2019, I will graduate from the University of Nevada, Reno with my Master’s in Business Administration.
These experiences have resulted in a unique perspective and understanding of what our community needs from their public service agencies and how to get it done. Join me in the conversation about Courageous Innovation in Public Services.
